Welcome to the Homepage of SDAŠ
SDAŠ stands for Slovensko društvo za angleške študije, or the Slovene Association for the Study of English. The association was founded in March 1993 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with the purpose of promoting the study and teaching of the English language, literatures in English and cultures of English-speaking peoples by means of communication and exchange with colleagues at home and throughout Europe. The members of SDAŠ are scholars involved in teaching and research at faculties and colleges of higher education in Slovenia. The association, which also welcomes post-graduate students, currently has 71 members.
Since its foundation, SDAŠ has been a member of ESSE, the European Society for the Study of English. The members of SDAŠ, who are automatically members of ESSE, are thus entitled to receive The European English Messenger, ESSE's biannual bulletin, as well as to participate in ESSE's major conferences organized every two years.
The main objective of the Association is to advance the exchange of knowledge and skills on the national, as well as on the international level. With this in mind, SDAŠ organizes scientific conferences and publishes an academic journal.
The First International Conference of SDAŠ, entitled English Language and Literature Studies in the Context of European Language Diversity, was held in Portorož from 6 - 9 May 2004. The Second International Conference of SDAŠ, entitled As You Write It: issues in literature, language, and translation in the context of Europe in the 21st century, took place in Maribor from 18 - 20 September 2008. And recently, the Association issued a call for papers for the 3rd International Conference of SDAŠ, entitled The Changes in Epochal Paradigms and the Opportunities they Offer for English Studies, which will be held in Ljubljana, 10 - 12 May 2012.
At the SDAŠ 2002 General Assembly, the decision was made to launch a new journal. Thus far six double issues and four single issues of ELOPE (English Language Overseas Perspectives and Enquiries) have been published and the journal has been included in the MLA directory of periodicals.

Dobrodošli na spletnih straneh Slovenskega društva za angleške študije
Društvo je bilo ustanovljeno marca 1993 v Ljubljani. Prek sodelovanja s podobnimi organizacijami in posamezniki iz Slovenije in tujine želi razvijati študij, raziskovanje in poučevanje jezika, književnosti in kultur angleško govorečih narodov. Trenutno ima SDAŠ 71 članov; članstvo sestavljajo profesorji, lektorji in asistenti, ki opravljajo pedagoško in raziskovalno delo na slovenskih fakultetah in visokih šolah. V društvu so dobrodošli tudi podiplomski študenti.
Od ustanovitve je SDAŠ del mednarodne organizacije ESSE (European Society for the Study of English, Evropsko društvo za angleške študije). Člani slovenskega društva so tako hkrati člani mednarodne organizacije, prejemajo revijo te organizacije (The European English Messenger) in sodelujejo na njenih mednarodnih konferencah.
Glavni namen društva je razvijati izmenjavo znanja na državni in mednarodni ravni. Zato SDAŠ organizira konference in izdaja znanstveno revijo.
SDAŠ je leta 2004 organiziral svojo prvo mednarodno konferenco z naslovom Angleške jezikovne in literarne študije v jezikovno raznoliki Evropi. Potekala je od 6. do 9. maja 2004 v Portorožu. Druga mednarodna konferenca z naslovom As You Write It: issues in literature, language, and translation in the context of Europe in the 21st century je bila v Mariboru, med 18. in 20. septembrom 2008. Vabimo vas, da se prijavite na 3. konferenco SDAŠ z naslovom The Changes in Epochal Paradigms and the Opportunities they Offer for English Studies, ki bo med 10. in 12. majem 2012 v Ljubljani.
Društvo je pričelo objavljati tudi znanstveno publikacijo o angleških študijah s področja jezika, poučevanja, književnosti in prevajanja z naslovom ELOPE (English Language Overseas Perspectives and Enquiries). Do sedaj je izšlo šest dvojnih številk in štiri enojne, revija pa je tudi uvrščena na seznam publikacij MLA.
